Illinois police shooting: Manhunt for three men suspected of killing an officer continues - TomoNews
FOX LAKE, ILLINOIS — A manhunt continues for three people wanted in connection with the killing of Illinois police officer Charles Gliniewicz, who was fatally shot on Tuesday morning following a foot chase in Fox Lake. A backup police officer found Gliniewicz in a marsh with a gunshot wound to the head and stripped of his weapons. Lieutenant Gliniewicz was at the scene of the traffic stop which preceded the foot chase , which CBS Chicago reports went "awry." Three suspects — two white males and a black male — fled the scene and Gliniewicz gave chase after radioing in at 7:52 a.m. An officer found Gliniewicz lying in a marsh near Rollins Road and Route 59 bleeding from a gunshot wound to the head and with his gun and Taser missing. Police officers wearing body army, police dog units and helicopters are currently combing the nearby area for the suspects. Police say the suspects are armed and dangerous.
