US confirms more civilian deaths in airstrikes against ISIL

The US military has confirmed 14 more civilian deaths resulting from the bombing campaign against the militant group ISIL, bringing the total official civilian death toll to 55. The announcement from the US Central Command followed an internal investigation into six US airstrikes between July 28, 2015 and April 29, 2016. Critics of the US-led air strikes have accused the coalition of understating the number of collateral civilian deaths.
