Confronting clear inequalities when it comes to diversity in the workplace, Boykin uses his long history advocating for diversity to give his audience a view of progress in the United States. Success, he says, will be visible in representation in the workplace, but it will only come after taking steps to ensure structural impediments are removed. As a political commentator, Boykin has appeared on MSNBC, CNBC and CNN. His early career began in organizing for diversity at Harvard Law School, which he attended alongside Barack Obama. He then worked in the White House under the Clinton Administration. He has taught at American University and founded the National Black Justice Coalition. As the first out gay person working in the White House under President Clinton, Boykin has stood up for LGBT issues.
