China cautioned against overlooking the Palestine-Israel conflict in Gaza at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Chinese deputy UN ambassador Dai Bing urges the international community to push for an immediate ceasefire to provide hope and basic security for the people there. Meanwhile, Russia accused the United States of double standards, criticizing the delay in adopting a ceasefire resolution for the Gaza Strip. The US did not respond to the remarks from China and Russia. The UNSC, with 14 countries in favor and Russia abstaining, passed a British-drafted resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and aid to 25 million people in need. Ramadan is expected to begin around Monday, dependent on the crescent moon sighting. The resolution comes amid the prolonged conflict in Sudan, where armed clashes erupted in Khartoum on April 15th last year between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces, leading to over 14,000 lives lost and a severe humanitarian crisis. Despite multiple attempts at ceasefire agreements, facilitated by countries like Saudi Arabia, none have succeeded. __________________ ShanghaiEye focuses on producing top-quality contents.
