She had the umbilical chord wound around her neck twice when she came out. Keya was diagnosed with SMA at the age of 10 months in 2011. She was given only 2 years to live by her doctors. At the age of 4 years when she was admitted in the ICU with a bout of pneumonia, her father, abandoned her and walked away without looking back even once. She has pulled through the past 11 years as bravely as anyone can imagine and with sheer determination to LIVE. She is a ranker in her academics today, can sing, paint and draw barely being able to sit on her wheelchair without a single moment going by in immense pain. Her back is bending owing to kyphoscoliosis and she has difficulty breathing. Her muscles are so weak that when a mosquito or an ant bites , she can’t manage her strength to scratch herself . A rare disease, Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2 is slowly taking away my little warrior's life.
