Sn2 vs Sn1 vs E2 vs E1 Workshop

Download the Slides Here: https://www.catalystchemistry.net/wor... In this Organic Chemistry workshop, we’ll break down how to determine which reaction will occur: SN2, SN1, E2, or E1. By the end of this video, figuring out which reaction is favored will feel a lot easier! Just remember: SN2 requires a strong nucleophile and a good leaving group. SN1 requires a good leaving group and a weak nucleophile (watch out for any carbocation rearrangements, like hydride or methyl shifts). E2 favors a strong base and a good leaving group (just make sure your leaving group is antiperiplanar to the hydrogen being eliminated). E1 favors a weak base, a good leaving group, and heat. You’ll also have a helpful reaction chart you can use anytime to quickly figure out which mechanism leads to the major product!
