God Come Down is a creative amateur rock production that thematically portrays the life of Christ in song. The group consists of four guys and four girls, identified on the back cover only by their first names. No indications as to where they’re from, nor are there any track titles listed on the cover or label, hence the whole project has an air of mystery about it. Good homemade electric sound coupled with artsy intentions. Attractive use of harp throughout along with some noteworthy lead guitar. They sample plugged-in folk-rock, melodic light rock, simple acoustic tunes with harmonica or flute, even some hard rock and psychedelic moves, including some dreamy echoed vocal effects and crude bursts of fuzz guitar (the latter occurs as Jesus confronts the Pharisees). Female drummer (Cindy) and upright bass player (Marilyn, looking extremely sophisticated in her wide-brim hat). A very cohesive and satisfying work. On the back cover there are photos of musicians - four guys and so many girls and only their names are listed: Eva, Marilyn, Flip, Davy, Wayne, Cindy, Doug and Sam. Music - a set of short, connected, including the plot, songs (total of 19), which one of the current enthusiasts titled to their taste (based on the texts), but it is more correct to simply track the tracks. On the reverse side of the envelope, only the following text is printed: “GOD COME DOWN is a story about the life of JESUS CHRIST in musical form. These songs, we feel, come from the depths of the heart of the GOD, who is actually their author, through the heart of Davy as a writer, and our hearts as the first performers of these songs. Let the LORD speak to you personally when you listen to this … ”. Despite the fact that the whole project is completely covered in mystery, the album has a good home sound in combination with elegant intentions. Attractive use of the harp throughout the entire release, along with a wonderful guitar. Songs include folk rock, melodic light rock, simple acoustic tunes with a harmonica or flute, there are even some hard rock and psychedelic movements, including eerie vocal effects and rude bursts of guitar fuzz (the latter occurs, for example, when Jesus encounters the Pharisees). The rhythm section is represented by girls: drummer Cindy and contrabass player Marilyn, who looks extremely serious in her wide-brimmed hat. On the whole, they have gotten very solid and quite satisfactory work. This is an obscure LP from a US Christian octet group. It was likely recorded in the early 70's. Only first names of the musicians are listed on the sleeve: Eve, Marilyn, Flip, Davy, Wayne, Cindy, Doug and Sam. The track list neither appears on the sleeve nor on the label. The music is a suite of a short songs. The following text is printed on the back sleeve: "GOD COME DOWN is a narrative of the life of JESUS CHRIST in musical form. These songs, we feel, come from the depths of GOD'S heart, who is in reality the Author of the piece; from Davy's heart as it's writer; and, from our hearts as its first performers. May GOD speak to you as you listen... The Awakening." Labels are dark red. Mysterious, privately-pressed Christian effort with all kinds of unexpected sounds and textures. "Half over sung and half moody deep Christian folky group. A couple of heavier tracks including a great one with distorted electric guitar. Nice homemade project vibe going on , introspective late-night winner. The sleeve offers no clues on their identity or origins.
