The Smurfs: Dreams (Xbox Series X) (Xclusive Playthrough - Part 10) Arts & Crafts

Check out part 10 of my Xclusive playthrough series featuring the game The Smurfs: Dreams! This game released on the Xbox One and Xbox Series family of consoles on October 24th, 2024. It was developed by Ocellus Studio & published by Microids. In this video, the unnamed Smurf saves both Painter Smurf & Farmer Smurf from their nightmare. The Smurfs: Dreams is a 3D, semi-isometric, puzzle-platformer where you control an unnamed Smurf whose mission is to save all of the other Smurfs within the Smurf village from being kidnapped by the evil Gargamel! Gargamel's latest evil scheme involved casting a sleeping curse on the sarsaparilla bushes that the Smurfs love so much which placed all of them into a deep slumber. It's up to this unnamed Smurf to embark on a dreamlike quest to awaken all of the Smurfs before the evil Gargamel reaches the Smurf village & kidnaps all of the Smurfs! With the help of Papa Smurf, who devises a plan to travel to the dream world, the unnamed Smurf is able to enter the Smurfs' dreams & help them overcome their various fears in order to wake them up which will allow them to travel back to the Smurf village. Each of these dreams hides a nightmare that has been altered by Gargamel & it's up to the unnamed Smurf to figure out their way to fight back against it in an effort to save their fellow Smurfs! The gameplay here is very similar to other various puzzle, platformers especially some of the various 3D Mario games such as the Super Mario Galaxy series of games. The player is able to select either a male or female Smurf & directly control them freely explore the various dream levels while collecting berries, solving puzzles, freeing some of the trapped Smurfs within the levels, collecting astral mushrooms & ultimately saving the specific Smurf (such as Smurfette or Brainy Smurf) from their dream/nightmare so they can return to the Smurf village. The player controls their Smurf of choice using the left stick while the camera is automatic due to the semi-isometric nature of the game. The player can use the X button to run/sprint, interact with various objects or use the bubble power while in the air while the A button is used to jump or slightly float for a few seconds after using it while already in the air. The Left Bumper or the Left Trigger can be used to greet other Smurfs while the Right Bumper or the Right Trigger can be used to interact with various objects, grab & throw various objects or use the current equipped gadget (which are very different from the SmurfoMix from some of the most recent Smurfs games). I have to say that this game is a lot more simplistic than the most recent two games: The Smurfs: Mission Vileaf and The Smurfs 2: Prisoner of the Green Stone. However, this does not at all mean that this game is any less fun. In some ways, this game is actually more fun than those previous games simply because it has more of a focus on the puzzles & exploring rather than the focus on combat that those games had. Finally, with regards to the achievements in this game: The Smurfs: Dreams includes a total of 21 achievements for a total of 1000 GS. There are only 4 achievements here that are story-related while the rest of them are related to collectibles (astral mushrooms & yarn bobbins), completing miscellaneous actions (such as scoring a soccer goal within the village) or even finding secret areas or hidden things within the various levels. The game does allow you to revisit any level that you have already been to which makes it really easy to just focus on completing all of the levels along with the story & then going back to mop any achievements that you may have missed. With that being said, the this is a fairly easy completion that should take you anywhere between 4 to 8 hours to complete.
