Union of Concerned Scientists Town Hall Meeting on Nuclear Safety

Union of Concerned Scientists Town Hall Meeting on Nuclear Safety held at M.I.T. on April 26, 2012. UCS hosted this town meeting to allow UCS Nuclear Safety Program Director, David Lochbaum to share the lessons learned from the Fukushima nuclear accident as applicable to US nuclear plants in New England. Also on the panel were citizen nuclear experts, Debbie Grinnell of C-10 in Newburyport, MA, working to shut down Seabrook Station; Mary "Pixie" Lampert of Pilgrim Watch, focusing on the Pilgrim nuclear plant in Plymouth, MA near Cape Cod; and Ray Shadis of Maine's "Friends of the Coast" and a consultant to the New England Coalition on Nuclear Pollution, seeking to shut down Vermont Yankee. All participants catalogued the incompetence and the intransigence of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in the performance (non) of its duties and responsibilities to protect the public health & safety.
