https://www.spiketsmith.com A short drum lesson on the blast beat shuffle or what I lovingly refer to as the shuffle blast, which is a pattern I devised for the Memoriam song “Total War” It came about as the song was at such a tempo that felt too fast to play your typical Thrash Skank beat or Polka style beat as some might know it better. Yet it felt somewhat too slow for a traditional blast. It's the usual pattern between the kick & snare but with a super imposed shuffle on the right hand/ride cymbal, making for a nice change to the usual straight right hand pattern. Here I breakdown the parts & piece them back together in an easy to follow fashion for anyone who may be interested in learning or adding this rhythm to their drum vocabulary.
