3 Defensive Midfielders Solskjaer’s Man Utd Should Sign

Welcome back guys! we’re going to be looking at three Defensive Midfielders Man Utd Should Sign. ► SUBSCRIBE to STATMAN DAVE: http://bit.ly/StatmanDaveYoutube The first name we’re looking at is Mauro Arambarri. The Uruguayan midfielder has been link recently to Man Utd, so let’s take a look at what he could offer in Solskjaer’s setup. Operating in Getafe’s combative 4-4-2, Arambarri operates more like a box to box midfielder than a defensive midfielder, although this isn’t too dissimilar to United’s 4-2-3-1 with Fred and McTominay. The Uruguayan is a well rounded midfielder but doesn’t have many standout attributes. He works extremely hard and he’s fairly composed in possession. He’s got a decent passing range and is more than happy looking for longer passes, particularly switches of play. In fact this season he ranks in the top 15% of La Liga midfielders in terms of switches play per 90. ► CHECK US OUT ON TWITCH: http://bit.ly/SMDTwitch Next up we’re heading to Ligue 1 and Monaco to be exact, looking at 21 year old Aurélien Tchouaméni. Like Arambarri, Aurélien Tchouaméni has largely played in a 4-4-2 for Monaco in more of a box to box role but he’s mentality is largely defensive as he looks to screen the defence alongside midfield partner, Youssouf Fofana. Of the pair, Fofana is the one who tends to drop as Monaco look to build from the back but Chew-a-mainy will still drop in from time to time. Standing at around 6 foot 1, Tchouaméni. definitely has the frame to succeed in the Premier League. He’s an athletic footballer that gets about the pitch well, often making tackles or blocks by stretching with his long legs. Another defensive midfielder who wouldn’t be cheap is Declan Rice. Over on the Statman Dave clips channel, I’ve taken a look at his profile as a player so go and check that out! Alternatively, we’ll be taking a look at some Premier League options in the next video on this channel so subscribe so you don’t miss out! Statman Dave Clips ➡ http://bit.ly/StatmanClips We head to the Netherlands for our final choice in today’s video, looking at Teun Koopmeiners. The Dutchman is arguably the most suited for United’s needs. Where the reds have struggled this season has been in possession. Fred and McTominay are an excellent destructive partnership that excel in the bigger and more chaotic games. ► JOIN PATREON: https://bit.ly/StatmanPatreon But against low blocks, United need a bit more quality on the ball. That’s where Koopmeiners comes in. Statistically, he profiles like a lot of the top, playmaking defensive midfielders. Using data from instat, he regains possession a comparable number of times to Hojbjerg (10.9), Casemiro (10.5) & Kimmich (9.2) whilst playing more passes per game than most. In fact his 75 passes per game is as many as Manchester City’s Rodri (75). On top of that, his Key Passes per game is more than the likes of Goretzka (0.82), Fernandinho (0.73) and Thiago (.78) and is as many as Youri Tielemans (1.07). As the stats suggest, Koopmeiners would offer a very capable player in possession but someone who’s equally as competent without it. Which defensive midfielder do you think Man Utd should sign?
