He challenged the conservative norms of his time, with his rebellious attitude, provocative dance moves and flamboyant fashion. He inspired millions of fans and followers, who copied his hairstyle, clothing and mannerisms. He also influenced many other musicians, such as The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Madonna. Elvis Presley was a cultural icon who changed the course of music and history. Elvis Presley faced many controversies throughout his career and life. Some of the most notable ones are: 1.His dance moves, especially his pelvis-shaking and leg-shaking, were considered vulgar and animalistic by some critics and viewers, who accused him of corrupting the youth and undermining morality. 2.His death in 1977 was preceded by a book that exposed his drug abuse and personal problems, which tarnished his image and reputation. His cause of death was also disputed, with some claiming it was a heart attack, others blaming an overdose, and others suggesting a genetic condition. 3.His use of Black music and culture was accused of being appropriation, not appreciation, by some, who argued that he stole from and exploited the Black community without giving proper credit or recognition. Others defended him, saying that he came by his love of blues and gospel sincerely and acknowledged the Black artists who inspired him. 4.His relationships with women, especially young ones, were also controversial. He met his future wife Priscilla when she was only 14 years old, and he was 24. He also dated other underage girls while on tour, which raised questions about his sexual ethics and preferences.
