I have always remembered the "snowplow illustration." It tells the story of a man trying to reach work in a blinding blizzard. After driving around aimlessly, he finds a partially cleared path and pulls off the main road, admitting he has no idea where he is or which direction to go. He decides to wait until visibility improves. Suddenly, a snowplow speeds past, and he feels grateful. He quickly follows it, determined not to lose sight of it. After a while, he realizes the plow isn't following a normal route, but he has no better options and continues to trail it. Eventually, the plow stops, and the man pulls up next to the driver as he steps out. Rolling down his window, he thanks the driver for clearing the roads and admits he’s lost. The driver replies, “The store will open in about 10 minutes, but my next job is the mall parking lot across the street. You can keep following me, but..." This probably is truer story than most of us would like to admit. And it is also why we must be careful that we are not chasing after a plow, but are truly FOLLOWING JESUS Matthew 4:18-20 Again, we are really glad you have joined us; we appreciate you taking the time.
