A series of 15 minute monologues against an animated background describing the events of Easter. Broadcast by the BBC during Holy Week 1994, recorded at home and transferred from VHS tape in all it's low-res flickering glory, many, many years later. This is Episode 2 of 7 - Peter's Tale - written and performed by Tony Robinson. The Radio Times described the series as follows ... The Gospels are the authoritative account of the events in Holy Week. But how did it look to the characters taking part, and to the bystanders who happened to be in the right place at the right time? A team of performers and writers have created seven separate viewpoints on Easter, running throughout this week and into next. Mike Harding begins the series with The Landlord's Tale, playing the barman of the Star and Gaza, a public house with an upper room hired for the Last Supper. The sequence continues with Tony Robinson as the apostle Peter, Helen Lederer as Mary Magdalene and Craig Charles as Judas. Robert Duncan plays Pilate, Tony Slattery is a confused Centurion, and comedians Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis are the gardeners at Gethsemane. A Really Animated/Stephinson production for BBCtv Stereo
