Authorities still searching for 17-year-old suspect wanted for shooting Cleveland police officer

The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force and the Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County are offering a reward as they search for a 17-year-old suspect who is allegedly connected to the recent shooting of a Cleveland police detective. 17-year-old Jayrion Church is wanted for his alleged involvement in which a Cleveland police detective was shot in his arm and leg on March 14. NOVFTF is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of Jayrion. Additionally, Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person(s) responsible for the crime. The shooting happened when a pair of detectives were investigating vehicle thefts and came upon what they believed was a stolen Kia near the area of East 30th and Cedar Avenue. Four suspects fled the Kia and ran from the scene. The detectives chased them. One of the suspects dropped a weapon, which was picked up by one of the officers and put into their vehicle.
