Brandy was suddenly paralyzed late night on April 18. An emergency vet visit and xray determined she had possibly slipped a disc. On April 19 we saw a Veterinary Neurologist who determined Brandy needed immediate surgery on her spine. Pressure was relieved from three discs and we learned her injuries ranked a 5 on a 1-5 scale based on her neurological functions. She was given a catheter since she did not have bladder function. It was supposed to be in 7-10 days, but came out 5 days post surgery. We had to bring her back where we were taught several ways to manually express her bladder. She may or may not regain these abilities on her own. We are one week out from surgery 4/27 and filmed our first full day of bladder expression. It was not easy because her bladder is floppy. We are still using the sling provided by the vet, and are awaiting a rear support harness.
