Official Canadian Army footage from the action at St Lambert-sur-Dives, the action for which Major David Vivian Currie was awarded the Victoria Cross. Commanding C Squadron of the South Alberta Horse, and a company of soldiers of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, Major Currie is in the direct path of the entire German 7th Army, and Fifth Panzer Army. During 36 hours of hard fighting, Major Currie only slept one hour as he continuously directed the fire of the soldiers under his command. With every officer killed or wounded, it was Major Currie's example and leadership that held the town of St Lambert-sur-Dives. Hundreds of Germans were killed or wounded, dozens of German vehicles were destroyed, and thousands of prisoners were taken in this area alone. Learn more at https://map.project44.ca
