My most recent 60s radio show featured the Top 40 singles from this week in 1965. When I checked that chart I was surprised to see a song which brought back a happy memory for me. It was 'A Window in Old Amsterdam' by Ronnie Hilton. I was brought up by my grandparents and my grandfather John Hamilton used to sing this song to me when I was just a kid. Sadly, he passed away in 1971 when I was just 8 years old. The only possessions I have which belonged to him are a mug, a Toby jug with 'Harrogate' written on it (Grandad was a Yorkshireman), and his radio - from which he presumably learned the words of the song. This same radio is also the one where I first got my ideas of doing radio work from. It's showing its age now. But it still works
