DAYTON -- A woman found guilty of aggravated vehicular manslaughter for the 2012 wrong-way crash that killed one person has been sentenced to three years in prison. Rachel Schidecker, who was 19 and drunk at the time of the crash, was accused of driving the wrong way on I-75 when she drove head-first into another vehicle. The passenger in that vehicle, Chereece Rule, died. The driver was severely injured. Today in court, an emotional Schidecker spoke to the court and to Rule's family, apologizing, and telling them the accident changed her life for the better, "I feel in my heart that Chereece Rule is my angel because in a way she saved my life that night. I pray for her children, grandchilden, parents, and loved ones, peace and understanding every day." Schidecker says since the accident, she has gotten treatment for substance abuse. Meanwhile, Chereece Rule's mother also spoke, telling Schidecker, "Your apology is accepted. I am a 26 year free of alcohol and drugs. I know what alcohol and drugs will do. I feel your pain."
