Blind Person Conquering Pokemon Platinum, Chapter 2- to the Forest Badge! (K)

This is a recording of me, a person who was born blind, completing Pokémon Platinum. This installment shows me going from just after beating Roark, through to beating Gardenia for the Forest Badge. This chapter is very long, because I had a lot of training to do in order to get my teams levels up to what the next gyms levels are. I buy some items and then leave Orebergh city the way I came. After collecting some items, I travel back to Jubilife, have a confrontation with Team Galactic, and then head up north to Floaroma town. After collecting some more items, I travel east towards the windworks. The grunt wont let me in even though I won fare and square, so I have to go to the meadow in Floaroma to beat his buddies and get the key. After some training, I make my way into Valley Windworks and liberate it from Team Galactic. Afterwards, I take the now available route up to eterna forest, where I must spend over an hour training to get everyone up to level 22 (I like to stick to this general rule of thumb, get your entire team up to the same level as the gym leaders strongest Pokémon before battling them). The ability Intimidate is very useful in battle, but it is very frustrating to train a Pokémon that has it in the grass. If you ever need a repel and dont have one, just send out a Pokémon with Intimidate and youll rarely get a wild Pokémon encounter. Though this has its uses, it made training very frustrating (sometimes it could take nearly 2 minutes to find a wild Pokémon, I used honey a couple times to speed things up). Oh well, I get the VS. Seeker pretty soon anyway, so I wont have to do much more grass training. After this, I face a few more trainers on the way to Eterna city, get cut, and then fight 3 more trainers on the route east of Eterna. I then grab the EXP share, and enter the gym to beat Gardenia and earn the forest badge! The bump sounds the game makes are very helpful in navigating, because I can use them to tell not only if I am hitting a wall or object, but how large an object is and where pathways are. Many objects can be used as landmarks that help me orient myself to cities and such. I also learn Pokémons cries and use those to identify Pokémon. Answers to frequently asked questions: To navigate on my Computer I use a program called JAWS. It reads the words to me and allows me to navigate my pc with ease. The F and J keys have bumps on them, so I was taught to orient myself using those to find all of the other keys. During fifth grade I had someone come in for about 6 hours, once a week for about 2 months. She trained me on typing, using Jaws, word processing and a little bit of internet skills. I have been using computers for many years and it is without a doubt an essential skill for a blind person today as it has become the most accessible method for accomplishing everything from work to play.
