China urges US to 'immediately cancel' arms sale to Taiwan

China has called for an arms deal between the US and Taiwan to be cancelled "immediately", after the US State Department approved the sale of over $2.2 billion of weapons and arms to Taiwan. They were requested by Taiwan earlier this year to bolster its defences "in the face of pressure" from China. China's Foreign Ministry has called the deal a "serious violation" of international law and the one-China policy.
