GQ5 / Assassins Creed: Syndicate / Jack the Ripper / Evie Frye

Jack the Ripper is a single-player downloadable content addition for Assassin's Creed: Syndicate and was released on December 15, 2015 for PS4 and Xbox One, and on December 22 for PC. The content is available with the purchase of the Season Pass or as a standalone purchase. 20 years after the events of Assassin's Creed Syndicate, 'Jack the Ripper' has embarked on a brutal reign of terror that shocks London to its core and threatens the very existence of the Brotherhood of Assassins. The story begins with the Assassin Jacob Frye meeting Mr. Weaversbrook, who Jacob warns not to publish Jack's letters as he wants to spread fear in London. Soon after Nellie arrives to inform Jacob about the next victim of the Ripper, and on reaching the crime scene they find two women murdered. Jacob goes after the Ripper, who begins following him before eventually attacking. After surviving the attack, Jacob reaches his lodgings, but the Ripper arrives and attacks again. This time however, he goes for the kill, although it is unknown whether Jacob is dead or not. Following the incident, Jacob's sister Evie Frye arrives from India where she is greeted by police inspector Frederick Abberline, who informs her that Jacob is missing and can be presumed dead. He also tells her that she may be the last Assassin in London, and the only one capable of stopping the Ripper. After finding Jacob's lodgings Evie takes some non-lethal fear tools used by the Indian Brotherhood, and begins hunting the Ripper. After unearthing the Ripper's hideout beneath Lambeth Asylum she attacks and kills him, before discovering that Jacob is alive. Dame Evie Frye (born 1847) was a Master Assassin of the British Brotherhood, active in London during the Victorian era, and the elder twin sister of Jacob Frye. She was also a member of the Order of the Sacred Garter, and the grand-aunt of Lydia Frye. Originating from Crawley, Evie and her brother traveled to London to liberate London from the Templars' control and help the poverty-stricken masses, following the death of their father by natural causes. To accomplish this, she and Jacob founded the Rooks, a criminal syndicate that opposed the Templar-backed Blighters. While Jacob focused on eliminating targets instrumental to Grand Master Crawford Starrick's operations, Evie pursued the Shroud of Eden, a First Civilization artifact hidden within the city. In doing so, she regularly came into conflict with Lucy Thorne, Starrick's second-in-command and an expert on the Pieces of Eden. In 1888, however, Evie was summoned by Jacob in the wake of the Whitechapel murders. After returning to London, she converged with Inspector Frederick Abberline, who brought her up to speed with the serial killer Jack the Ripper and informed her that Jacob was nowhere to be found. She then followed the Inspector to the murder scene of the Ripper's first victim, Mary Ann Nichols. Abberline informed her that the woman murdered was not the Mary Ann Nichols he knew. Upon inspection, Evie found an Assassin ring and deduced that the victim was an undercover Assassin. Having been tipped off by Abberline, Evie went to investigate Jacob's Whitechapel lodgings, in hopes of discovering a clue as to where the Ripper was. There, she found one of the Ripper's letters, a photograph of her, Jacob, Henry and an initiate nicknamed "Jack the Lad" in India, and a letter to her hidden under a statuette of the goddess Kali. After reading Jacob's letter, Evie sought the prostitute Nellie, who had been escorted to the Kenway Mansion where Lady Olwyn Owers was giving a speech. She spoke with Nellie and learned that killing Lady Owers was necessary to find Jacob. Evie then chased a carriage thought to have been occupied by Lady Owers, and upon hijacking it, realized Nellie was inside. Nellie then told Evie that Lady Owers had fled to her manor northwest of London.
