Therefore, being wise, intelligent, learned cannot be an issue in what Jesus says in today’s gospel. Jesus says: “I thank you, father Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children”. Jesus here speaks of those whose pride and elevated ego make them wise and learned in their estimation and for their purposes. Thus, mysteries of God are hidden from such who have intellectual pride and arrogance. The Jews and Pharisees of Jesus time, were well-educated and well-versed in knowing the law. But they didn’t get the gift of faith from God and therefore, when Jesus came into this world, they could not accept his teachings. It was always the simple, humble, and innocent who benefited from Jesus teachings. They are like fishermen whom Jesus called as his disciples. The intellectual attitude of a person is expressed outwardly in one’s actions. Do you think that the ten blind men healed by Jesus belonged to rich class? Do you think that the multitude of 5,000 who were fed by Jesus belonged to the rich class? Do you think the blind man shouting on the roadside, Jesus son of David have mercy on me, was a rich man? If God has to listen to us, if God has to reveal his plans and purposes, we need to come before him like little children in humility and simplicity. For pride always blocks us because it builds walls. Humanity always open us, for it build bridges. #dominicanmediamission #DOMINICANFRIARSINDIA
