The Guess Who American Woman Guitar Solo with TAB (Randy Bachman)

The Guess Who are one of the most important Canadian rock bands of the past few decades. Guitarist Randy Bachman also started the Bachman Turner Overdrive which was arguably even more successful. American Woman was their most successful song reaching number 1 in the US and Canada One of my students wanted to learn this song and I was enamored by how sophisticated yet simple this guitar solo was. It's constantly shifting between Major, Minor and Dominant pentatonic scales seamlessly while still maintaining a simple melodic melody that is just as recognizable as the main vocal hook. While I was learning this solo I randomly heard this song in the one of the Austin Powers movies, so it is undoubtedly associated with the revolutionary 60's rock n roll counterculture.
