Anand Sharma Criticizes Congress Leadership For Making An Alliance With ISF Ahead Of Bengal Polls

West Bengal Pradesh Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Monday put up a brave face after facing criticism from within his own party over his decision to ally with Furfura Sharif cleric Abbas Siddiqui's Indian Secular Front (ISF). The ISF has joined the CPM-Congress alliance ahead of the Bengal Assembly elections. Asked about fellow Congressman Anand Sharma's criticism of the alliance, a visibly upset Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury told India Today, "What I am doing everything is being communicated to my high command." "Congress cannot be selective in fighting communalists but must do so in all its manifestations, irrespective of religion and colour. The presence and endorsement [of] West Bengal PCC President is painful and shameful, he must clarify," Rajya Sabha MP Anand Sharma had said. Questioning Chowdhury's decision to align with parties like ISF, Anand Sharma went on to add that such steps were against the "core ideology of the party and Gandhian and Nehruvian secularism, which forms the soul of the party". Such decisions must be ratified by the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest decision-making body in the party, Sharma said on Twitter. #Congress #AnandSharma #BengalPolls 2021 #IndiaToday Subscribe to India Today for NEW VIDEOS EVERY DAY and make sure to enable Push Notifications so you'll never miss a new video.
