The Atlantic Coast Express Railtour - 17/05/75
The Atlantic Coast Express railtour was organised by the Battle of Britain Locomotive Preservation Society ran from London to Exeter where it then traversed the former LSWR route to North Devon. From Crediton we took the Plymouth line via Okehampton to Meldon Quarry and view Meldon Viaduct. Returning to the Barnstaple line the tour then headed to North Devon to travel beside the Taw and Torridge estuaries to Torrington. The result of this tour helped make possible the preservation of 34067 Tangmere.
