The subject of this episode is the Sea Organization, the so-called religious order of Scientology. The Sea Org was founded in 1967 by Hubbard himself and was at that time operating on a small fleet of ships (hence its name). He appointed himself its Commodore. Only the most dedicated Scientologists were invited to join the organization and they had to sign a symbolic billion year contract and dedicate their lives to the Church. The Sea Org has moved to land bases since then, but retained most of its tradition. Pay was still minimal, somewhere around 0-50 USD/week, depending on the income of the organization. Free time is minimal – you are almost always working for the Church when you are awake. Food and berthing are provided by the Church. In this episode we will talk to two former Sea Org members about their experiences, the abuses they witnessed and the organizational culture of the Sea Org. I am very interested to hear your opinions and feedback about this episode. The next episode will be available on the 15th of July, 19:00 CEST.
