In this beginner friendly crochet pattern, I am going to show you how to create an easy mesh fairy shrug with double crochet and treble crochet stitches. This is for teens/adults but can easily be modified to fit a small child (just make a smaller starting chain). You will be creating one continuous rectangle panel for the cropped front and back panels, and the head opening. Then you will work in rounds for the sleeves and create a flowy flare. You can use any weight yarn and hook size for this project, but just know that thicker yarn may require fewer rounds and you would need to adjust accordingly. However, thinner yarn would work up well and create a more "flowy" look. Stitches to know: Double crochet Treble crochet Materials you will need: At least 400 grams and 700 yards with weight 4 yarn. 4, 5 or 6 mm hook (based on your preference) tapestry needle measuring tape You will need 3 measurements. 1. Shoulder width (measure from one shoulder to the other, this is your panel coverage and starting chain) 2. Arm hole/underarm oApening: (measure from top of shoulder to below armpit. if this measurement is too large or small, then your sleeve opening will not fit correctly). 3. Sleeve length (measure from end of shoulder down to wrist or fingertips) If you would like to purchase my more in-depth written pattern for the “Manic Pixie Shrug”, you can find it along with many photo examples at: My Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/shop/astroknotty OR My website: https://www.astroknotty.com Instagram / astro.knotty Written guide for the sleeves: R1: Solid double crochet R2-4: Mesh DC R5: Solid DC R6-8: Mesh DC R9: Solid DC R10-12: Mesh TR R13: Solid TR R14-16: Mesh TR R17: First increase (ch 6 - counts as first tr + ch2).
