He brought the image to Maninag Hill and worshiped her. The Goddess appeared to him and told him to live there and establish a village on the eastern side of the hill. Raj-Ranpur is a small town in the Nayagarh district of Odisha. It's also known as Ranpurgarh or simply Ranpur. The town is located at the foothills of the Maninag Hills, which cover the whole of Ranpur and much of the surrounding areas. According to legend, Ranpur State was founded in the 18th century BC by a hunter named Basara Basuk. Basara Basuk defeated a giant demon named Ranasura and established his rule in the area. The name Ranpur comes from the name of the demon Ranasur, who was the ruler of the area. His kingdom was known as Ranasurapura. Ranpur was the capital of the princely state of Ranpur during the British Raj. After India's independence in 1947, the princely states merged with Orissa in 1948. Ranpur Gadjat became a Tahasil of Puri district under Nayagada subdivision. After the 1993 re-organization, Ranpur became a Tahasil under Nayagada district. Ranpur is also known for its many popular shrines, including the Asurakumari Temple and the Jagannath Temple. ରଣପୁର ମହାତ୍ସବ ୨୦୨୪ ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ସ୍ଵ।ଗତ ଜଣାଉଛି /Ranpur Mahochaba 2024 Nayagarh #ranpur
