Baraka, in the original continuity, was a mutant nomad leader of the Tarkatans, a race of tribal-0minded outcasts living in Outworld, who relied on thier natural primal fury to be strong and survive in the harsh, unforgiving wilds. They developed huge fang-filled mouths, retractable (And regenerating) arm blades of steel-hard bone, and a savage fury that could be released to enhance their already deadly fighting skills. Baraka earned a position of leadership by slaying the former chieftain and taking over his role, and defeating any and all challengers that dared to try him. Scorpion was a formerly human Ninja named Hanzo Hasashi, trained from birth in the ways and skills of Ninjustu. He was a proud noble warrior of his clan, the Shirai Ryu, and had earned many honors serving his Emperor. He came to be married and had a child, but they were savagely murdered by the Lin Kuei, a rival clan of Chinese assassins, and he himself was murdered kin cold blood by Bi Han, the original Sub-Zero. His desire for revenge was so intense that his soul went to the Netherrealm, and there Quan Chi, a necromantic sorcerer, offered him a chance for vengeance by resurrecting him as a Spectre, giving him new powers and abilities. He was able to avenge his murder and the deaths of his family and clan, but still is haunted by the loss, and fights to restore his clan once more. If Baraka and Scorpion were to throw down, it would be an epic fight… Scorpion and Baraka would be going toe to toe… with fists, feet, and blades! Both would use their anger to fuel their Kombat to new heights, and neither would be able to gain a significant advantage. However the discipline instilled within Scorpion by his Ninja training would be just enough to curb the rage within Scorpion enough to allow him to think a little clearer than the full on primal fury of Baraka, who would be all about attack, attack, anttack! This would give Scorpion just enough of the tactical edge to wait for Baraka to make a fatal flaw, before Scorpion throws his roped Kunai blade deep into Baraka’s chest, yanks the cord back with a cry of “GET OER HERE!”, and rips away his mask to reveal the flaming skull marking his Hellborne heritage! Unleashing a blast of fiercest Hellfire, baraka would only have a few moments to scream before being consumed in the fires of Scorpion’s eternal anger!
