N.Korea fires two short-range missiles to East Sea / YTN

North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea today (Thursday), in an apparent move to respond to the ongoing South Korea-U.S. military drills. South Korea's Joint Chief of Staff (JCS) said the two missiles were fired around in the morning from the North's western Hwanghae Province and hit waters off the country's east coast. The missiles are known to have flown some 500 kilometers. The JCS added that the military is closely keeping tabs on the situation and is fully prepared to deal with any North Korean provocations. The North's latest provocation followed its test-firing a week ago of six rockets from a new 300-millimeter-caliber multiple launcher into the East Sea. Pyongyang has been ramping up its armed threats against Seoul and Washington as the allies are staging their joint Key Resolve and the Foal Eagle military exercises. The weeks-long war games kicked off on Monday.
