KB Miniracing 1/24/2026 | Open Class - Main | R1-3500

First time on this track. In the video, I ran my MWX Performance R.1 with 3500KV motor. The car has the exact same setup from 2024 at Lemo. As a matter of fact, I haven't ran this car since 2024 because we no longer have a Mini-Z track in the Bay Area, Ca. This is the reason why I ran this car in the only class I can enter, the Open Class. I was just missing that speed especially now that I started racing 1/10th scale cars (TT02/TCS Mini/TC 25.5), started in November. What was surprising though was the grip! This is the only track I have been on that has a very low grip. I personally like that because it separates the driver vs someone with faster car (motor/battery). In the video, you will see that the car isn't that fast. This is because I can't full throttle my car. I was loosing the rear on exit or I understeer on entry. I didn't bother to chase setup because I really only want to put some Mini-Z laps in. If you know me, I usually do 1k laps per visit. Until my hand starts to hurt basically. This many laps is not something I can do in the 1/10th scale and I miss that. I took my MWX Performance R.1 2500KV as well but even when I changed to a new rear tire, this car just didn't have any rear grip and I found the problem. This problem is not something you will notice in most tracks. That's because most track will have a default of Mid to Mid-high grip level. I will post another video talking about what I found and maybe this can help others when they're on a low grip track. How I rate the RCP grip level: Low Low-Mid Mid Mid-high High High-High This track has low grip. It's because the track is relatively new (maybe few months old) and the track is a pop-up track. Meaning, its only down when there's practice or races like on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The rest of the days, the track is put away. This makes the traction low. Another low track I've been on is my friend's house track with garden edging but that's more low-mid traction and since we're not going that fast and we use slow MR04 EVO2 with 4100KV motor and a pushy front tires, the Kyosho 30 LH. The low grip isn't as noticeable. The K30-LH at KB track didn't work for my MR04 EVO2 4100KV at all! The car does NOT want to steer. My fastest lap with the K30 is 9.2 that I hit once. When I switched the front tires on the same car to PN Firms, I was able to hit 8.7 fast lap. That is a big difference in lap times. Still no traction roll. On my next visit, I plan to try the new Kyosho front and rear tires in both my Kyosho Mini-Z as well as my MWX R.1 LiPo cars. Just to compare the difference and if the new Kyosho tires are better. At least for this track. I'm glad that we have a RCP track even if this is 2 hours drive for me. Its so much better than having to drive 6 hours down South! Its also nice that there's a permanent on-road carpet track about 20 minutes away from KB. MWX Performance R.1 with 3500KV SetUp:    • Let's talk about the setup! | MWX Performa...
