Ukraine faces massive power outages | The Federal

#ukraine | #russia Ukraine energy officials on Wednesday said that they had no choice but to introduce restrictions on electricity supplies across the country. This comes after Ukraine lost at least 40% of the country's power-generating capacity following attacks by Russia over the last 10 days. More than 1,100 towns and villages have been left with no electricity following the attacks. 1,162 settlements in Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovograd, Zhytomyr, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Lugansk, Mykolaiv, Kherson regions have no power supply. The spokesperson for Ukraine's emergency services Oleksandr Khorunzhyi said massive strikes have killed more than 70 people and left 240 injured. Russia carried out the strikes using missiles, kamikaze drones, and artillery in 16 Ukrainian regions and in the city of Khiv. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday Russia destroyed about 30% of the country’s power stations in a week. The Russian strikes impacted 380 buildings, including critical infrastructure facilities like energy facilities and civilian facilities — private houses, and high-rise residential buildings. Kyiv has warned of critical risks to its energy grid if the strikes continue further.
