The story begins with Batman escorting a re-captured Joker to Arkham Asylum. Batman grows suspicious because the capture was too easy, and his fears are realized when the Joker escapes his restraints and reveals that he has taken control of the entire facility. Batman is trapped inside the asylum with his archenemy, as well as many other supervillains, including: Harley Quinn Poison Ivy Killer Croc Bane Victor Zsasz Scarecrow, who periodically torments Batman with fear toxin throughout the game. The Joker, with the help of corrupt security and Harley Quinn, orchestrates the riot to get his hands on a chemical known as Titan. The drug, which is based on Bane's Venom, is capable of turning inmates into super-strong, monstrous creatures. Batman must fight his way through the asylum to stop Joker from using the Titan formula on a massive scale and destroying Gotham.
