Villamarín emphasizes that the regime is only projecting a "facade" of unity. In reality, he says, the Cartel of the Suns is fractured, with military commanders fearful of being the next to fall. In his opinion, Maduro is trying to buy time while he waits for an extraordinary turn of events, but he is already facing simultaneous pressure from Washington, from his own inner circle, and from actors who could become informants in exchange for legal benefits. The analyst warns that even if Maduro leaves power "because of the “Good,” Venezuela would enter an inevitable phase of violence, internal purges, and a divided military. Criminal groups that have thrived under his protection will seek revenge, while the weapons distributed in recent years will fuel the chaos. Added to this is a potential collapse in access to food and an increase in looting, a scenario the United States is cautiously assessing to prevent further deterioration. Regarding covert operations, Villamarín explains that the CIA has worked for years to undermine the regime, contacting Venezuelan officers willing to reveal barracks or disobey orders. With the possible designation of the Cartel of the Suns as a foreign terrorist organization, the United States could carry out direct actions against air bases, vessels, bank accounts, and drug trafficking leaders.
