We are about to go inside but first, the tour guide tells us about the temple and how it was built. The project began in 1981 as a reaction to the Cold War, according to the temple philosophy. As egotistical people attempted to tear the world apart using modern technology, the temple would serve as a counterpoint. The project is still ongoing. The Structure: The Sanctuary of Truth towers 345 feet above the beach and covers 3,200 square meters. It's the largest wooden structure in the world, according to their website, and everything inside is made of wood, with incredible carvings and sculptures created by skilled artisans.
