We've been sharing wonderful Burt Bacharach songs with the kids, in the week that the world sadly lost one of the greatest songwriters of the twentieth century. So here's our tribute to him: our version of "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself" - original lyrics by Hal David, and the song first recorded in 1962 but most famously delivered by Dusty Springfield (1964), Dionne Warwick (1966) and later given a quirky twist by the White Stripes (2003). We've given it our own blend! We've given it a twist to have a dig at the super-rich whose antics in recent weeks and months have been pretty pathetic, even by their standards. You can try to figure out who you think it's about (we're not naming names...) If you like the song, or what we do, then PLEASE help to support our journey by checking out our brand new original single, "My Storybook" which we think will make you nostalgic, or happy nostalgic, or just happy. We're desperate to try to build a bit of profile with our own music, as we reckon that's a sustainable way to keep developing what we do - so we'd love your help to: (a) download or add the song to your streaming lists (b) join us as a follower on Spotify here: shorturl.at/eyNY0 (c) share the track and play it and ask for it to be played on radios or playlists Thanks for listening! More music to come soon... _________ Thanks as ever to the people who support our musical antics through Patreon (where you can see extras like out-takes and podcasts): / marshfamilysongs Do join us there, or just leave a tip at our tip jar at: https://paypal.me/marshfamilysongs. ________________ LYRICS They Just Don’t Know What To Do With Their Wealth! They just don't know what to do with their wealth Don't know just what to do with their wealth They’re so used to hoarding profits they accrue Hiding everything from view They’re so well-to-do… They just don't know what to do with their time Tax avoidance, evasion, or crime Buying social media platforms makes them sad Football teams are just as bad They don’t have a clue But they can fast track the queue They can broker loans Between their dodgy friends No-one needs to see how They reap dividends Disgust has grown at their fraud and their stealth The trust eroded in true commonwealth Maybe if they weren’t attention seeking clowns We’d have more that trickled-down To healthcare and schools Not waste fossil fuels They all want to pose And be a “Lord” or “Dame” They believe esteem comes With a snobby name They just don't know what to do with their wealth It’s such a nightmare for BP and Shell Don’t be stripping vital assets from the ground Pay some tax, not cos you got found Just pay what is due You know it’s gross revenue No, no, no – they don't know what else to do They’re just amazingly gross, no, no, no, no ____________________________ Huge thanks to our super-generous Howlers on Patreon for their support: Andy Riches Brian Graham Carol Leff CT Cliff Hope Dave Lee David Patrao David Ryan Derrick Brown Douglas Lind John Burn Lew Michael & Emily Guadagno Simon Haslam Uncle Mike
