This mysterious sub-range of hills capture the imagination, with location names including ‘the murder hole’ and ‘the devils bowling green’ surrounding the roughly hewn and gloriously wild granite bulks of Craignaw, Dungeon Hill and Mullwharcher. Joined once again by Hubert, Coops and I enjoyed backpacking through the peat bogs and tussocky nonsense to discover what lay beyond the outer rims of the Galloway Hills. We were not disappointed!
