A 24-year-old man, Mohamed Nufal from Cairo, Egypt, is cycling to Russia 2018. The young Egyptian set off from Cairo's Tahrir Square days ago hoping to arrive the European country ahead of the World Cup. After about 5,000 km (3,000 miles) and 65 days on the road, Nufal hopes to reach Moscow to watch his country make her third appearance in the mundial. He will ride through Jordan, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine, and fly over Syria due to the civil unrest going on there. He will also not be riding through Iraq for security reasons. To make it through his expedition, Nufal has packed spares for his bicycle, an extra phone, tent, batteries and camping gear. QUOTE: "It is about the road more than the arrival. If it were just about the World Cup, I would take a plane. It is a great chance for me to see new things." Nufal. The young Egyptian will be the first to travel by cycling to see the World Cup. After clinching a World Cup spot in October, Nutal's Egypt will compete on football's biggest stage for the third time since 1990.
