Tie Rod End Installation Tips | MOOG Parts

A key part of a car’s steering system, tie rods are susceptible to premature failure if they aren’t installed correctly. In this video, Technical Product Specialist Mike Hinderer shares a couple of tips for installing tie rods. Mike explains that when installing tie rod ends, it is important to keep the stud centered in the socket and to torque the nut to the manufacturer specifications. Holding a MOOG tie rod, he shows how premature failure can happen if the stud isn’t properly centered in the socket and the damage that can occur if the nut is overtightened.
