You Don't Have To Suffer in Silence - National Suicide Prevention Week

Content warning: suicide, self-harm This week is National Suicide Prevention Week, led by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The week is set aside every September to raise awareness, teach people how they can play a role in preventing suicide, and start life-saving conversations about mental health. In this video, Jenna Overbaugh, LPC discusses the importance of suicide prevention in the OCD community. Research has shown that people living with OCD are 10x more likely to die from suicide than the general population. We also know that for many people with OCD, the topics of suicide and self-harm may be triggering. In OCD, these thoughts are not the same as true suicidal intent or a desire to self-harm. Please know that if you are at risk of suicide or self-harm, or if you are suffering from OCD with themes of suicide or self-harm, there is hope. You don’t have to suffer in silence. If you or someone you know is in crisis, you can call or text 988 to connect to the Suicide & Crisis Hotline. If you're struggling with OCD, you’re not alone, and we can help. Schedule a free call with our team to learn about starting treatment or to get connected to other resources.
