Building Collapse, Multiple Trees & Wires Down From Severe Storms

Severe thunderstorms brought 60+ mph winds to Lycoming County and downed dozens of trees and powerlines across the City of Williamsport. One building collapsed as a result of the severe winds. The building was vacant and the back walls were already gone, but the west side of the building collapsed down and into a neighboring home that was occupied. No injuries resulted from the collapse although there were some broken windows and scared pets. The family was not home at the time and has found a place to stay as inspectors will need to determine if there was any structural damage. Numerous trees were uprooted along Lycoming Street where Williamsport city crews, stretched thin by all the damage, worked to cut up and remove at least two trees downed by the winds. Trees and wires were reported downed across the city. Further east, Pennsdale, Picture Rocks and numerous other communities reported trees and wires damaged or destroyed by the severe storms.
