Stephanie’s Song

The song written for Stephanie Goldammer was written by LuluB another special-needs mother who tried to step into Stephanie’s heart—imagining what she must have felt in those moments before and after her life was taken by addiction. As she wrote, she was overwhelmed by the guilt, grief, and shame that Stephanie might have carried… especially the pain of not watching Nick more closely, while recognizing the difficult task of supporting independence while still offering supervision for the adult SN child. Nick shouldered the blame for Dee Dee Blanchard’s murder. The song became LuluB’s way of honoring a mother’s love, her regrets, and the tragedy that neither Nick or Stephanie escaped.
