(23 Sep 1997) T/I: 11:19:51 Israel on Tuesday (23/9) identified four of the five suicide bombers from the Islamic Resistance Movement (HAMAS) who carried out two attacks in Jerusalem in the past seven weeks that left 20 Israelis dead. The Israeli army had sealed Asira Shamaliya off in recent days, arrested more than a dozen of the residents and taken blood tests to try to identify the DNA of relatives of the bombers. Solidiers set up positions around the village and blocked all entrances and exits. Angry Palestinian residents, who were prevented from move freely for the third day running, protested the blockade. They burnt tyres and threw stones at the Israeli soldiers but Palestinian police soon dispersed them. Meanwhile, a nine-year-old Palestinian girl was hurt by a rubber-coated bullet fired by Israeli police trying to disperse some 200 schoolchildren protesting outside a new Jewish enclave in East Jerusalem.
