Johann Sebastian Bach Sinfonias, No. 14 in B♭ major, BWV 800 - This is my second three-part invention by J. S. Bach. After working on the C minor one, my teacher let me choose the next one. It was a difficult choice because I like a lot of the sinfonias, but I finally decided to work on the B-flat major one. I wanted a piece on a major key as my next Bach piece. This one was a big step in difficulty compared to the previous one. There is quite some more counterpoint in this one, since all three voices are played continuously throughout the piece and only in few occasions they go in parallel. The invention is also quite compact in the keyboard, which made differentiating the voices a bit more difficult. The main theme comes way more often than in the previous inventions I have worked on, which imposes the challenge of really using the other moments of the piece to highlight the polyphony. The piece has stretto sections which were totally new and very challenging for me, but at the same time were perfect preparation for a potential fugue in the future. I really love how it builds up towards the end! I am very happy with the recording. It is a piece I never got tired of playing and that I hope to keep in my repertoire. I hope you enjoy it :) -- Played on a Mason & Hamlin Model 50 Recorded with Rode M5-MP and Blue Yeti microphones, and Focusrite Scarlett 2i2
