*Note*: I've realized post-editing that, in my review of "I Capture the Castle", my comment on the family living in poverty comes off a bit insensitive. I'd just like to clarify. What I was metaphorically rolling my eyes at was actually the tone in which the book handles their poverty which felt very unconvincing and primarily a plot device. I didn't feel that true financial anxiety was communicated and yet it was a very melodramatic point throughout the book. Thus my attitude towards their "poverty". Anyway! Books mentioned in this video: Longbourn, Jo Baker The Cost of Living, Deborah Levy The Trick is to Keep Breathing, Janice Galloway I Capture the Castle, Dodie Smith The Widows of Malabar Hill, Sujata Massey The Satapur Moonstone, Sujata Massey Thanks for stopping by and if you'd like to connect on another platform I'd love to be friends!
