They Are Their Own Judges By Elder David A. Bednar Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles The true justice of God is not based on appearances, excuses, or comparisons. As Elder Bednar taught, the day will come when each of us will stand before the Lord, and at that time there will be no deception, no masks, no justifications. On that sacred day, we will discover that we ourselves were our own judges, because our works, decisions, and desires will reveal who we truly chose to become. But this doctrine should not produce fear. On the contrary, it is a doctrine filled with hope, peace, and comfort. For if we have exercised faith in Jesus Christ, if we have made covenants with God and kept them, if we have sincerely striven to repent and change, then the time of judgment will not be a cause for anguish, but an encounter filled with joy, gratitude, and light. Elder Bednar taught that if our lives have been aligned with the Savior, the judgment seat will be pleasant, because we will stand before the One who knows us, understands us, and has been with us every step of the way in our repentance. We will not be judged by a distant God, but by a Redeemer who paid the price for us, who knows our struggles, our efforts, and the purity of our hearts. The final judgment is not condemnation: it is the culmination of Christ’s love and mercy manifested in their fullness. May we live each day in such a way that, when that time comes, we can look to the Savior with confidence, knowing that we followed Him, that we made our sacred covenants, and that we strived to be faithful. #ElderBednar #TheyAreTheirOwnJudges #TheChurchOfJesusChrist #FaithInChrist #Repentance #FinalJudgment #RestoredGospel #HopeInChrist #Conversion #DisciplesOfChrist #TheGospelLives #WordsOfTheProphets #TwelveApostles
