In this video I demonstrate what glazing is and what the benefits of it are. I'll show you three ways to glaze using acrylics, by using water, glazing medium and gels. I also cover which colors work for glazing and how to use gesso to fix mistakes. Glazing might seem complicated but it's really just any transparent layer of color. ARTICLE FROM GOLDEN ABOUT ADDING WATER TO ACRYLICS Common recommendations for thinning acrylics with water are usually a 1:1 ratio of water to paint as the maximum. But Goldens research has proven you can add much more water. They currently recommended limit is 1 part paint to 20 parts water. Even at 100 parts water they said that adhesion wasn't an issue.
