Lepers were to be removed from the camp- can’t be near God & must protect the clean Numbers 5.2-3 i. Covered in sin? Kicked out! Clothed in righteousness; acceptable Matthew 22.11-13 b. I know I am a sinner- but I still want back into God’s camp! Purify/purge the sin James 4.7-10 i. Then, go to the man of God- ask to be cleansed Leviticus 14.1-9 IV. The Cleansing a. Offering of bird and the baptizing of a bird Leviticus 14.4-5 i. In clay- blood, water, scarlet yarn, cedarwood, hyssop (elements of the cross) “look to Jesus” ii. Allows the leper in the camp- still needs to have sin offering/burnt offering to be freed of sin b. Jesus is a better sacrifice Hebrews 9.11-14 i. He took our place, and then ascended into heaven.
