📖 Matthew 24–26 (KJV) | The Last Days, Parables of Judgment, the Last Supper, and Gethsemane

In Matthew 24–26, Jesus teaches His final and most solemn lessons before His betrayal and arrest. He unveils the signs of the last days, warns His followers to remain watchful, illustrates true readiness through parables, and then institutes the New Covenant at the Last Supper. These chapters transition from prophetic teaching to the beginning of the Passion — where Jesus willingly walks toward suffering in obedience to the Father. 1️⃣ Matthew 24 — Signs of the End and the Coming of the Son of Man: Jesus foretells the destruction of the temple and gives the Olivet Discourse, outlining what His followers will face before His return: Deception from false christs Wars, famines, pestilences, earthquakes Persecution of the faithful The preaching of the gospel to all nations The “abomination of desolation” Great tribulation The cosmic signs of His coming He urges vigilance: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” (24:42) 📖 Reflection: Christ commands readiness — not fear or speculation, but faithful obedience until He returns. 2️⃣ Matthew 25 — Parables of Watchfulness, Faithfulness, and Final Judgment: Jesus gives three connected parables revealing what true readiness looks like: The Ten Virgins: spiritual preparedness — keeping our lamps burning. The Talents: faithful stewardship of what God entrusts to us. The Sheep and the Goats: final judgment — love lived out toward “the least of these.” The chapter ends with the Son of Man separating the nations at the end of the age. 📖 Reflection: Readiness for Christ’s return is proven through love, integrity, and faithfulness in everyday life. 3️⃣ Matthew 26 — Betrayal, the Last Supper, Gethsemane, and Arrest: This chapter contains the beginning of the Passion: Jesus is anointed at Bethany Judas agrees to betray Him for thirty pieces of silver Jesus institutes the Last Supper, saying: “This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.” (26:28) In Gethsemane, He prays in deep anguish: “Not my will, but thine…” He is betrayed with a kiss, arrested, and taken before the high priest Peter denies Him three times, fulfilling Jesus’ prophecy 📖 Reflection: Christ’s obedience in suffering reveals both His deep humanity and His divine determination to save. ✨ Summary: Matthew 24: Jesus reveals the signs of the last days and calls His people to watchfulness. Matthew 25: Through parables, Jesus teaches readiness, faithfulness, and compassionate love as essential for the kingdom. Matthew 26: Jesus prepares for His death — instituting the New Covenant, praying in agony, and being betrayed and arrested. These chapters move from prophecy to the path of the cross — showing Christ as both the coming King and the suffering Savior. 📖 Follow the Journey: ▶️ Full Bible Reading Playlist: https://tinyurl.com/BibleComplete 🔔 Subscribe to walk through the Bible with me chapter by chapter. 👍 Like & Share to encourage others in their faith walk. 🔎 Keywords: Matthew 24 KJV, Matthew 25 KJV, Matthew 26 KJV, Olivet Discourse, Last Days Signs, Ten Virgins, Parable of the Talents, Last Supper, Gethsemane, First Time Bible Reading, KJV Bible Reading 📌 #KJV #BibleReading #GospelOfMatthew #OlivetDiscourse #ParablesOfJudgment #LastSupper #BibleJourney #ScriptureStudy
